I have had a lump about the size of a pea in front of my ear for about a year now. It didn t ever hurt until yesterday. Now it is hurting and feels more swollen around the area. Making it uncomfortable. I had mentioned it to my doctor last year and said not to worry. Should I now be worried?

HI
Thanks for posting your query.
There is no need to worry but you need to get evaluated for the swelling as its been a year now right.
The causes of swelling at the site mentioned by you is could be due to
1. Lymph node enlargement : Lymph nodes are normally present at that site but they get enlarged if there is any problem in the ears or throat.
3. Sebeceous cyst : is swelling due to obstruction of oil gland under the skin.
4. Skin Tumors :
My advise to you is get a test called FNAC ( Fine needle aspiration Cytology ) which will help in knowing what is that swelling and thus help in deciding what needs to be done for that.
Hope this information was useful to you. Any clarifications feel free to ask.
