I have a lump roughly size of a Bb pellet on my left ear basically in front of my tragus (on skin towards tragus) which has been there for ages, it sometimes goes down and is small lump but lately it feels massive and is painful to touch. I tried popping it and even used a sterile pin but only clear fluid and blood comes out? I m a smoker so I usually have a smokers cough but I haven t been unwell and I don t suffer from acne or anything, what is it?! I m in the Uk
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of painful fluid filled lump on the ear. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like abscess , sebaceous cysts , lymphadenopathy , acne mononucleosis , infected lipoma and mastoiditis . But in you case it seems to me that the symptoms are due to either infected sebaceous cysts or lymphadenopathy. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult dermatologist for proper examination. Doctor will examine physically to check tenderness and consistency , may order biopsy or blood test . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics along with anti inflammatory. For now apply warm compresses and take antihistamine like benadryl twice a day. Avoid touching or pricking it with sharp object.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
