What Causes Painful And Heavy Menstrual Bleeding?

I Had protected sex. 2 days later I got my period. It was quite heavy. I had and continue to have really bad cramps although im not bleeding anymore. I usually don’t have cramps at the end of my period so I’m getting paranoid that I’m pregnant. I’m not on birth control.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Thanks for your query on HCM

"As"per your clinical history is concerned heavy period is not due to pregnancy so please follow like this -

1)Do a clinical examination by your Doctor[Gyn] and to confirm it do few tests like [CBC with differential], TSH and ultrasound.

2)Discuss with your treating Doctor about prescription medications like -[iron supplement,Tranexamic acid and combined birth control pills]

Do follow lifestyle modifications like this -

1)Get plenty of rest. If you become unusually tired, nervous, or constipated, you may be more likely to experience menstrual pain.

2)Do exercise regularly such as walking, swimming, or bicycling may improve blood flow and ease menstrual pain.

3)Try to eat a diet rich in whole grains and green leafy vegetables. Add a multivitamin regularly.

4)Try to drink plenty of fluids.

Hope that helps
