What Causes Painful Acne On Body After Quitting Smoking?

Hi! I am 39 female and quit smoking 9 months ago, gained 3-6 lbs, don t drink and take a GNC 6-pack vitamins and a Dr. Phil had good words to say on his show vitamin that is for muscle tone. My question is what could cause such painful pimples? I believe them to be water cysts. They swell up and are red and if I pop them and squish the clear fluid out the remainder fluid with move under my skin. Yes I press the area til it s mostly gone.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello and welcome to `Ask A Doctor` service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advise.

* As per my clinical experience, the onset of painful acne is not a direct
consequence of quitting smoking so far as a period of 9 months is
concerned.

* Additional hormone imbalance or some immune response has to be
considered and evaluated for the same.

I would like to admire your further doubts anytime.
Take care.
