What Causes Pain In The Upper Spine?

I have achy pain along my upper spine. It hurts to press on my spine. This pain has been here for over a month. This week I have noticed that my arms have been very week. When I brush my teeth, my arm feels as if I have just lifted weights. I have been to the doctor and I got an xray, but they didnt see anything.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Your symptoms indicate a disc problem that may be causing nerve compression I recommend :

- a orthopedic consult /a neurologist opinion
- an MRI of the spine -nerve conduction study if indicated
- blood tests (complete blood count, blood glucose panel, lipid profile)

Based on these a diagnosis will be made. It cannot be nothing as you have significant symptoms. Please consult the above physicians as soon as possible. Avoid any activity that worsens symptoms.

Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with. Wish you good health.

Regards,
Dr. Shuba Hariprasad
