What Causes Pain In The Lower Back On The Left Side?

Hi, I just recently started experiencing a pain in my lower left side of my back. It is not all the time. I will get the pain for about 3 seconds then it goes away. May not feel it again for an hour or 5 minutes. No rhyme or reason. No recent injuries.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The pain in the lower back on the left side could be due to colitis or possible constipation. Enlarged bowels might cause pressure on the nearby nerves giving the sensation of that pain.

If you are suffering from constipation, drink plenty of fluids; have more fiber-rich foods to induce regular bowel movement (BM).

Take Paracetamol. If still no improvement, consult further with your caring doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini,
