Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was diagnosed on Thursday morning with a uti. I've been taking antibiotics since Thursday morning. The pain going for a wee is much easier but I've got constant pain in my abdomen. Which has just got much more severe tonight. I've been constipated since Thurs too. Is this what's causing me all the pain now?? Pain is in my sides, just under my ribs, but ago the right side of my ascending colon area is v tender to touch... I also started getting sharp pain upwards through my pelvic area at same time my pain in my abs got worse. I did take ducolax bout 1130am today coz I didn't want constipation to be prolonging my recovery.... Advice?!?! I should be feeling better by now shouldn't I?! I'm in tears again.... Is t simply silly constipation pain or to do with uti?!?!
HI Well come to HCM I really appreciate your concern, it seems to be diffused kind of abdomen pain, such pain is really challenging for physician or clinician, clinical examination gives some clues but most of the time investigations needed. Abdomen cavity contained many organs and as long as the pain is concern all that needed to be taken into consideration, it may be biliary colic, intestinal colic, renal colic, inflammatory disease, infections. Apart from the pathophysiological changes it may be due to some functional elements, like anxiety, depression, constipation may not cause any pain, for constipation you can try rich fiber containing diet, drink plenty off water, Isabgol powder can be tried for stool softening. hope this information helps.
