What Causes Pain In Breast?

Pain in left breast more severe than normal pms swelling very tender to touch and came on quickly. Other sharp achy pain in some joints and increased stiffness,. Last week I had a sore throat but it was very localized and not in throat but rather the left side of neck under chin. That s condition has gotten better, but the breast pain has not. YYYY@YYYY

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello ma'am and welcome.

If at all you are nearing or older than 40 years of age, I would first like to recommend frequent breast examinations, preferably a mammogram. For now, with the provided information I would recommend a visit to a doctor for a physical examination, check on lymph nodes, temperature, hormone levels, etc.

Infections can cause a hormonal imbalance which can in turn cause breast pain. So either the infection is the cause for your presentation or some other underlying pathology. Please do schedule an appointment with your doctor ma'am.

Best wishes.
