What Causes Pain During Intercourse?

dear dr.,

i am female, 23 years old, 180 lbs, 5'10''. i have been experiencing pain while having intercourse for approximately 1.5 months. i thought i tore and that sex aggrivated it. but after abstaining over my period and several days after, i still have pain. also, i have developed fatigue, dizziness, and just not feeling well. could these things be connected? or are they two separate diagnoses?

Hi,
If you have a tear as you suspect, you could also see spotting after an intercourse. Infections also can lead to painful intercourse and so are polyps, and the latter often bleed. Prolapsed ovaries can also cause painful intercourse, especially on deep penetration. So, in the current scenario, you need to have a proper clinical appraisal of the situation by a specialist. Your symptoms of fatigue may or may not be related to this pain. A sonogram of the pelvis is always helpful. Hope this helps.
