What Causes Pain Behind The Left Ear?

I have pain behind my left ear and going down my shoulder and neck. It also is causing pain in my head. I get this often and I think its an ear infection but it never is. I went to the dentist and I do have TMJ but I have a mouth guard. What else could it be?

Hi, I have gone through your query.I suggest that you go in for a X-Ray of the cervical spine to rule out cervical spondylitis.You may take a Tramadol-Paracetamol tab for the pain.
