What Causes Pain And Swelling In The Nipples?

My father has very intense breast tissue pain by his nipple No rash. No swelling. Can not feel a lump. But it might be because when I get to the very specific area, it is painful. Took him to doctor. Have waited for two weeks. Dr wanted to Rio shingles.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Yes, it may be shingles but other diagnoses have to be kept in mind as inflammation of ribs or costochondral junctions is there. You need tests as TLC, DLC, ESR, CRP, and chest x-ray anterior-posterior view.

As a rule shingles, pain is soon followed by rash but 2 weeks have passed. So please get laboratory tests and x-ray done. You can take analgesic as tablet aceclofenac two times.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
