What Causes Pain And Dent In Hand While Bending The Wrist?

Dent in hand when bending wrist downwards. It has been off and on in both hands for a few years now. Every type of movement affects it. After looking it up online, I see similar symptoms related to the ganglion cyst, but there has never been a bump. Just a lot of pain when bending wrist and a dent. Sometimes can t even turn a door knob or picking up a soda without pain.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Based on the history you have shared, it should be reviewed by an orthopedic surgeon as it can be due to any damaged tendon or nerve entrapment etc. Ganglionic cyst is a possibility but less likely as common causes should be ruled out first. Also MRI scan may be needed. OTC analgesics like acetaminophen or Ibuprofen along with muscle relaxants like Orphenidine or Tizaindine may be helpful for symptomatic relief.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
