Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Probably your symptoms are caused by Crestor, but it is also possible to cause by the other things.
Crestor (
rosuvastatin calcium) is a statin drug that works by slowing the production of cholesterol by the body, used to lower cholesterol and fats (triglycerides) in the blood, and is used to reduce the chances of developing problems like
heart disease and strokes that can be caused, in part, by
high cholesterol levels.
However, since you had a history of high cholesterol (although you are on Crestor), it is possible that your symptoms caused by:
1. Claudication intermittent, also known as
peripheral artery disease (PAD), is caused by the clog of artery caused by plaque.
2.
Peripheral neuropathy.
If I were your treating doctor, I would like to do the following test, such as:
•
Total cholesterol level
• Blood glucose level, though you don't have a history of diabetes.
• Ankle-brachial index (ABI). This is a common test used to diagnose PAD. It compares the blood pressure in your ankle with the blood pressure in your arm. To get a blood pressure reading, your doctor uses a regular blood pressure cuff and a special ultrasound device to evaluate blood pressure and flow.
•
Angiography, etc.
To relieve the numbness that you felt, you can take a rest for a while or warm bath your feet.
I also suggest you to meet your treating doctor for further management.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nurul Falah
