What Causes Numbness In Neck And Shoulder?

I am a 66 year old african ameriacan female. About two weeks ago while helping my husband move some furniture I pulled my neck and shoulder really bad. I have not had any feelings in my neck (right side) and shoulder since then. I have tried various over the counter rubs and alchohol. Should I see a doctor. I am really worried.

Hi Dear ,

As per your query your husband has numbness in neck and shoulder . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like peripheral neuropathy , degenerative disc disease , cervical spondylosis, nerve compression and cervical Herniated Disc . I would suggest you to do light stretching exercises of neck and shoulder under expert and apply warm compresses on neck and shoulder . Consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may as you to do certain movements , order CT scan or X -ray . Doctor may prescribe muscle relaxant , Eperisone and methylcobalamin . Doctor may also recommend physical therapy .
