What Causes Numbness And Burning Sensation On The Legs And Hands?
I recently found out that I have B12 deficiency. My legs and feet are numb, yet feel like they are on fire and so are my hands. I know what neuropathy is but have never heard of B12 causing it. I am taking injections once a week and a pill everyday. I have not seen a doctor. Scheduled to see a neurologist May 3rd. I am so frustrated.
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Certain vitamin deficiencies can cause peripheral neuropathy symptoms like burning sensation, tingling and numbness. Kindly continue with the medications you are taking. You may need to add Pantothenic acid and Thiamine in addition to Vitamin B12, as these vitamins are involved with optimal functioning of peripheral nerves. Since these are water soluble vitamins, their concentration could come down if they are not supplemented regularly by food and medications. Kindly consult Neurologist for clinical evaluation and appropriate management. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best. Regards, Dr. Ashakiran.S., MBBS., MD.
