What Causes Nausea After Injury On Ankle?

I "sprained" my ankle very badly 3 days ago. Have had X-rays to rule out a fracture. Am in air cast with crutches but ankle keeps looking worse and bruising covers entire foot, heel, and past the ankle by 2-3 inches. Nausea tells me that something is really wrong. Do I go back to the hospital?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The xrays should have been able to conclusively check for fractures.

In many injuries the bruises increase during the first few days to reach a plateau so this may be the reason that they appear to be worsening.

The presence of nausea does not mean that the ankle injury is worsening in any way.
Nausea is not an indicator for joint or ankle pain.

There are different possible causes of nausea and if it continues then you may want to be assessed to determine the cause.

I hope this helps
