Hello,

You are relating the pain to the tubal ligation you had five years ago. It is difficult to comment on the underlying reason for the pain without having more information about you (age, other health conditions or surgeries, medications, urine and bowel functions, food habits and lifestyle). However, I would like to reassure that if the ligation operation was without any problems during surgery, and you recovered without any difficulties later, then it is unlikely to be due to the operation itself.

The pain that may result from occlusion of blood supply in the area around the tube is more likely to happen lower down in the tummy, whereas you are reporting the pain to be high up - close to the ribs. It is not clear what test you undertook - that came as negative? Was it a pregnancy test?

If the pain persists, you need to be reviewed by a doctor who can go through with you - ask a detailed history and examine you physically and or arrange for investigations. The tests and history could be managed with detailed online consultations, with investigations arranged close to where you live as well.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sabina Hussain
