What Causes Muscle Spasms In The Lower Extremities?
I have been having this problem with muscle spasm for 10 plus years. I have been seen by many doctors. Fixin to go see Neurologist next month.. I just got my glasses renewed back in Feb of this year. Ive been on Tizanidine 4 mg, cyclobenazaprine 5 mg and now baclofen 10mg.. I have a deficiency in potassium, magnesium, and vitamin D... I also have charly horses in the middle of my sleep in lower extremies. Could this be the result of MS? if so, why haven t they caught it sooner.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
MS would normally show changes in imaging (MRI) at different points when the neurological symptoms are occurring. According to the criteria for diagnosis, there must be evidence of damage in 2 separate areas of the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord), that has occurred on 2 separate occasions. If no changes have been seen on imaging then the diagnosis is not made.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Michelle Gibson James
