What Causes Muscle Pain And Soreness In Knee?

A few years ago I sat down outside and ended up putting all of my weight on my right leg and the muscles especially in the thigh area around my knee. NOW I have had what I call my knee going out and hurts REALLY bad. I could for awhile pop it back - sort of - but as of about 3 days ago, it now hurts with every step. I was diagnosed with a miniscus (sp?) tear and some trash that needs to be removed with scope. As bad as it is and the worse it is getting I am wondering if it is only that. The muscles around the kneecap are really sore to the touch and the muscles sbove are very tender as well. Any suggestions or thoughts on this?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, there is severe symptomatic scale of the knee injury. Primary measures with analgesic and assisted physiotherapy can give transient relief for short span of time. As the pain is continuous and not controlled in best possible manner interfering with the day to day work, surgical repair of meniscus tear and removal of any residual debris from the knee joint via arthroscopy approach is best recommended.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
