What Causes Mucus In Stool After Taking Eliquis And Sotalol?

After taking Eliquis and Sototol I now have a mucousy substance in my bowel and cannot seem to eat much, no appetite and after a few bites feel sick to stomach. I have stopped the meds, no bowel movements as haven t eaten enough o have any. So now all I get is the mucous on the toilet paper. Know I need to go to a gastroenterologist, but can t get off the toilet or stop cramping up long enough to go. I was taking them as I had my Mitral valve replaced with a Porcine valve 6 yrs ago and had to go to the emergency room with a A-fib and they shocked my heart back into rhythm. Cardiologist says I don t need these meds as when he put the valve in he put a special cap at the top to prevent blood clots. Thanks Dorothy 80 yrs. old.

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hi,

Your symptoms could be related to gastrointestinal infection or an inflammatory disorder.

For this reason, I would recommend consulting with a gastroenterologist and performing a stool analysis and a fibrocolonoscopy.

Some blood lab tests (complete blood count, PCR, ESR, blood electrolytes) are needed too.

You should discuss with your doctor about the above tests.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka,
Cardiologist
