What Causes Missed Periods When Under Stress?

Hello,
Im 18, I have missed my period for about 64 days. A month ago I didn't have sex, and I missed a period. And now, a week ago I had protected sex. I even used the water test to check for breakcage, and nothing. I was supposed to get my period a week ago (looking at my calendar). I've been so stressed lately. And with stress and anxiety I have lost my appetite and also I have been feeling a little nauseous. I don't know what to do. I also have been feeling some cramps.

Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Stress and anxiety can cause missed periods and menstrual irregularities. Similarly, lack of proper foods and anemia also can cause irregular periods. As of now, you have to take adequate rest and take proper foods, Include more and more iron rich foods to your diet. If the problem persist for long, better to consult a gynecologist and get evaluated. She might require pills to make a withdrawal bleed.

Wishing you good health.

Thanks.
