What Causes Mild Vaginal Spotting During Pregnancy?

Hi am pregnant with my second baby and am 10 weeks now.in my 7 the week I have mild spotting and my doctor advised me to take susten 200 vaginally.i took it for two weeks and the spotting stopped .then I stopped taking it.but last week wen I went she asked me to continue to take it till 14 weeks.but I haven t taken it for some 3 weeks.but I have no spotting or bleeding.will it affect my baby.what is the significance of this progesterone inserts

Hello,
Since you had spotting earlier which subsided later on with the addition of progesterone, this indicates hormone insufficiency as the cause of the spotting, which got corrected with supplementation. Therefore, you should continue with the medication until 14-16 weeks when the placenta takes over the function of sustaining the pregnancy from the corpus luteum. This medication is safe in pregnancy and in fact, it does more benefit by helping the pregnancy to grow. Hope this helps.
