What Causes Lump Under Armpit?

I have found a lump under my armpit. It s been there for about two weeks now, not causing any pain as such although my shoulder is painful itself. The lump is visible on the surface and goes deeper but does not appear to be developing any head so not like a spot, but it is getting bigger. I am a 50 year old woman.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Dear;
Lump in armpit is mostly caused by either hair follicle abscess ....or an enlarged lymphnode...but since ur lump is painless so it is probably an enlarged lymphnode.
The cause for lymphnode are many but acut non specific lymphadenopathy is quite common.
Other causes include cancers and lymphatic system disease and any chronic inflammation like tuberculosis.
For treatment I ll suggest hou to go for a short course of antibiotic like amoxiclav for 5 days.
If ot doesn't subside than visita gen. Surgeon.
Thanks
Hope my advice will be helpful ro u.
