What Causes Lump Next To Anus After Starting Cipro And Birth Control?

I started taking a birth control pill for the hormones yesterday and cipro for a urinary tract infection. Today I have a big hard lump the size of the end of my thumb next to my anus under the skin. A side effect of the medicines is blood clots. I have had some diarrhea with the cipro. What is the lump do you think?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Is the lump painful? Is there any bleeding? This is unlikely related to Cipro / pills. A lump there may be a perianal abscess (will be painful) or a hemorrhoid. I would recommend getting it examined with your doctor, preferably a surgeon.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
