What Causes Lump Beside The Palatopharyngeal Arch?

I have a small flesh colored bump on the left side of my palatopharyngeal arch, less than 2mm in size, relatively hard in texture, and inside the bump it appears to be whitish and pimple-like.(I'm guessing by looks, I haven't popped it). I notice it when I swallow. I've been so nervous about this since I discovered it a few days ago. I'm really hoping it's not cancer. Could there be a better explanation? Clogged salivary gland? Some passing strain of HPV? I'm a 20 year old female who occasionally smokes and infrequently drinks. Thank you

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain a lump on the palatoglossal arch that looks like a pimple and is flesh coloured can be most probably an inflamed and infected Accessory Lymphoid Tissue..
Other causes can be a Pyogenic Granuloma, an inflamed salivary gland or an abscess..
I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation can be sufficient generally for diagnosis..
Do not worry about cancer as it does not appear to be cancer and just inflamed lymphoid tissue..
The physician can advise you a course of antibiotics, anti inflammatory painkiller and warm saline gargles..
Avoid spicy and hard foods to avoid irritation..
Drink plenty of water..
Hoperfully it will resolve in a week..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
