What Causes Lower Abdominal Pai After Sexual Intercourse?

I was told 6 mos ago by my gyno that I have Adenomysis. I was then put on birth control at the age of 42. The pill has helped for the first 3-4 mos with the bad symptoms I was having, but now it seems the symptoms are returning. I am having pain & swelling after intercourse, which usually goes away, but I had intercourse on Sunday night & my lower abdomen is very swollen & tender. It has not gone away. I do not know what to do?

Hello,
Thanks for letting us know your health concern. I have gone through your query and would like to offer you some suggestions. As your pain is persisting, I would ask you to see your health care provider for proper appraisal of the situation and plan further management. You could be experiencing adhesions of the pelvic organs subsequent to the condition, which may have expanded into the pelvic cavity. A repeat sonogram, preferably in the trans-vaginal route, is necessary to assess the situation. You may find relief meanwhile with an antispasmodic medication. Hope this helps.
