What Causes Low Testosterone Level While Treating Prostate Cancer?

I had prostate cancer 7 years ago but after radiation and hormonal shots it receded and my PSA has been normal eversince. As a consequence the treatment left me impotent. My testosterone level is very low.I am in excellent physical shape and exercise 4 or 5 times a week. Would a testosterone treatment be adviceable or could it bring the cancer back? I am 84 years old but look 60.

Oncologist 's  Response
The main driver behind Prostrate cancer is testosterone and all treatment first aims at bringing testosterone levels to castrate levels. This leaves impotency as a consequence. But you are fortunate that the disease is under control. Taking testosterone injections is not advisable. Remember life is more important than anything else. Make use of this life to help and serve others.
