What Causes Low Platelet Count While On Lipitor?

I have a low platelet count. I have taken Lipitor for years. Should I be concerned about taking lipitor? I have had breast cancer and radition. My oncologist has informed me I have had a low platelet count for four years. What is the chances LIpitor may have contributed to the low platelet count? YYYY@YYYY

Lipitor does not low platelet count. You have written your platelet count. If your platelet count is low then how much it is low and you are having this since last four years. I guess it is not significantly low. Anyway, you can write your platelet count later on.
Low platelet has many causes. It needs to be investigated.
Advice
1.     Continue Lipitor as suggested
2.     Drink 4 – 5 liters of water daily
3.     Take over the counter ferrous sulphate tablet daily for 2 months
4.     Folic acid 5 mg daily for 2 months
5.     Methylcobalamin 500 mcg daily per oral for 2 months
6.     Investigations
a.     Complete blood count
b.     Coagulation profile
c.     Peripheral smear examination of blood
d.     ESR
Combination tablet/capsule of ferrous sulphate, folic acid and methylcobalamin is also available. Check it out from pharmacy in your country. Or you can consult your doctor for this.
