What Causes Low Energy And Severe Hair Fall Post Decreased Dosage Of Synthroid?

I have been on Levothyroxine (Synthroid) for over 40 years. I was taking .0100 mcg all of that time and felt well. My thyroid test recently came back as too high so the doctor put me down to .088mg. I now am losing my hair at an alarming rate and my energy level is low. Am I right that these symptoms do not reflect a too high level? By the way, I am not Underweight. In fact, should lose about 15 pounds.

Hi welcome to health care magic...

You have not mentioned your thyroid report

But according to history it seems you are having secondary hyperthyroid by high dose of levothyroxine...

The dose of levothyroxine should be adjusted according to serum TSH level....

So regular alleast every three to six month serum TSH level checked and dose of levothyroxine adjusted accordingly...

Take care

Advise : Physician consultation for examination and further work up if needed
