What Causes Light Menstrual Bleeding Along With Nausea After Taking Plan B?

Hi so I m new to this and really need some advice. Okay so I had sex about 4 times on March 20th (Friday - during my fertile days) and I took plan B that Monday. I had a sort of period on April 3rd which I felt was mostly normal. It was lighter but not dramatically lighter. It lasted perhaps 4 days. Ever since April 1st, I have felt different. Throughout the past month they have become progressively more noticeable. I ve had headaches, nausea thorughout the day (not throwing up though), cramps that last about 20 seconds each (progressively become more frequent), my boobs just became sore about 4 days ago - tender to the touch and when any kind of pressure is applied, I am having these crazy vivid dreams for the past 3 weeks, I am craving salt and protein, I am gassy, I am peeing more than double my normal frequency - and when I do use the bathroom I pee a normal amount, never a small amount, I am at moments constipated and other moments I feel like I have diahrrea, the smell of eggs grosses me out (I have still eaten them on occasion because I am trying to not let on but they just make me feel like I have zero appetite and that I could be convinced to throw up and I used to eat eggs every morning, and I am bloating. It s not mushy/soft bloating where it just feels like perhaps I have put on a few pounds..it is firm bloating where it just feels like my muscle is expanded and pressed outward. I am tired, but I m not sure if I am more tired or not than normal - I feel like I just want to take frequent naps. I took an at home pregnancy test about 2 weeks ago and it came back negative. Do you have any idea of what might be happening?

Hello,

As you had a period and a negative home pregnancy test, it is confirmed that you aren't pregnant. All your symptoms fit into premenstrual syndrome. It means you have been facing various symptoms as a result of menstruation. It happens in few people. It might be a side effect of plan B. These symptoms will reduce by themselves with time. You don't need to worry. You can consult a gynecologist if your symptoms persist or increase in intensity.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
