What Causes Large Sized Lumps Back Of Head?

Last night I noticed a large lump about the size of a cherry on the back of my head about two inches from my right ear. This morning I woke and found a large kidney bean sized lump behind my right ear and the lump on the back of my head has grown. There are also two smaller lump about the size of peas right at the hairline on the right side of my head. All are painful to touch and without touch. I also have a headache. After research online I found that I have lymph node glands in those areas. Throughout the day today I've noticed that they seem to be growing. I have not had any trauma to my head recently. I am concerned because they are painful and seeming to grow fast.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, i do care for your concern.
These are lymph nodes that enlarge following infection to scalp.
I would advise
to start on antibiotic such as cefexime along with antacid and continue it for full course of one week, which would help.
using antiseptic shampoo regularly will add to the help.
Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
Thank you.
I find this answer helpful
