What Causes Knee Pain Upon Climbing Stairs?

I slipped on a dirt gravel hill two days ago and landed sitting down on my left foot. The top of the foot is bruised, but nothing else seemed to be an issue until today when I was climbing stairs. My knee was in pain when climbing up the stairs, but not walking or going down the stairs.

Hi, sorry to hear about the pain.
As you said you had slipped step 2 days back followed by bruise over the foot and now your knee is hurting while climbing up the stairs, you might have got knee sprain which is caused by ligament injury.
Things to do to reduce the pain are:
1. Rest, immobilise, avoid weight bearing.
2. Apply ice pack.
3. Compression.
4. Foot elevation.
5. Pain reliever medications like Ibuprofen, Mobizox etc.( Available over the counter)
6. Applying analgeic spray. (Do not massage).
With the above following measures, pain will subside in few weeks. However, if the pain persists and you notice any swelling, kindly visit your local doctor or orthopedic surgeon.
Hope you get well soon.
Thank you.
