Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi there, I started out with itchy red ears, and developed a rash all along my neck. Now it has spread to my eyes, itchy around my eyes and swollen. Also, there is a bit of a rash on the top of my hands. What could this be? The bumps are small. Thank you Cristina
It seems that you have developed an allergic reaction to some substance as your body is recognizing that substance as allergen which might otherwise be harmless.
You should start taking antihistamine such as Levocetrizine 5 mg (Levocet) or Loratidine 10 mg (Lorfast) once a day for 5-7 days. If it will indeed be an allergic reaction, it will subside in 1-2 doses. If the intensity reduces and does not disappear that you should go to a physician or dermatologist for intramuscular injection of corticosteroid to control the reaction.
If the reaction is recurrent and is bothering you a lot, you should go for a blood test for allergy to find out which substance you are allergic to so that you can avoid exposure to it in future.
If the medicine does not work at all, you should see a dermatologist for the physical examination of the rashes and further investigations.
I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish you feel better soon.
Best, Dr. Viraj Shah
