What Causes Itchy Red Bumps On Wrist Post Alcohol Consumption?

i had little red bumps on my wrist the next day after drinking the night before. they look like little insect bites, some look like little watery pimples, very tiny and itchy. i have never had this problem before when drinking, usually because i dont drink a lot and don t mix alcohol. could that be the issue here? are these considered hives also?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The bumps you have must be due to allergic reaction following an insect bite. Insect bite results in exposure of our skin to the saliva which contains proteins that are allergic to humans normally. Some people may have more severe reactions. Do not break the blisters. Clean the allergic site with soap and water and apply calamine lotion over there. If there is itching, take oral antihistamines.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pradeepraj, General & Family Physician
