Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Unsure what to make of this. I started itching all over my body about a week ago. I have no rash, nothing in my life has changed, Im not on any medications, and allergy medication doesn t stop it. What could be the cause? Im scratching so hard Im getting bruises in places and even broke 2 fingernails scratching last night
As per your complain it seems that itching sensation all over the body can be due to allergic reaction and can be due to side effect of any food or medication and it seems to be very severe..
In case if it is not relieved even with anti allergics I would suggest you to consult an Allergist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like blood tests can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
You can be advised to take injectable anti allergics and steroids to faster relieveing of the itching that will be followed by oral anti allergics and steroids.. You can apply calamine lotion to soothe the skin.. Take cool water bath.. Once the itching gets subsided but in case of recurrence you can be advised to go for Immunotherapy to reduce the severity of the symptoms..
Hope this helps..
Thanks and regards.
