What Causes Itching And Swelling On The Toes?

I have a regularly itchy left foot in the toe area on the bottom of my foot. All my toes, and it is worse when I am in bed. Sometimes my right foot bothers me, but mostly my left. When I scratch the toes, they swell and become itchy on the top of my foot, too. Once the itching really kicks in, it is hard to find relief. This has been going on for some time. At times cracked skin, but not currently. I wonder if it could be diabetic neuropathy. I haven t been diagnosed as diabetic, but it seems like more than athletes foot.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Thank you for asking HCM
I have gone through your query. Your problem can be due to fungal infection. Using creams or ointments containing antifungal agents like miconazole , antibacterial like neomycin and corticosteroid like betamethasone for local application will be helpful.
Thanks.
I find this answer helpful
