What Causes Itching And Peeling Of Skin On The Lips?

Hi my name is Jeanette. i have issues with my lips. it started like maybe a month ago. it started itching then after few days it was peeling and i can t help but scratch it then few days it turns black then i noticed after i wash it or brush it or clean my lips it becomes watery. there i have a very painful round thing in my lips. like a sore or something.i don t know what it is. but it s a white thing with a whole or an eye and red surroundings. i noticed too that after the darkness of my lips go away it will repeat,go to being itchy and dry and peeling.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..

As per your complain dryness and peeling of lips along with pigmentation and formation of sores can be due to a number of causes common of which are Herpes virus infection causing cold sores, bacterial or fungal infection of lips or can also be due to allergic reaction to any unknown allergen..
Photo sensitivity caused due to excessive sun exposure can be a cause..

I would suggest you to consult a Dermatologist and get evaluated and he can do a thorough clinical evaluation and also culture of the fluid discharged from the bumps over lips to rule out the exact cause of symptoms and treat you accordingly..

As of now you can apply a thick coat pf petroleum jelly over the lips, do cool compresses, avoid sucking or licking the lips and maintain a good hydration..
Avoid all kinds of face and lip cosmetics..
