General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

These are symptoms of contact dermatitis, a localized allergic reaction to the use of hair dye, as there are no systemic symptoms. In these cases, the symptoms are usually self limiting and resolve themselves after the allergen is withdrawn.

Still, to avoid the symptoms of suffering and to treat the symptoms more readily, local use of hydrocortisone and anti-allergic tablets are advised. As you are doing the same, still, if the symptoms persist or become more agonizing, you can use long acting anti-allergic like Cetirizine or Loratadine etc. in place of short acting anti-allergic like Benadryl. In more severe cases, oral use of steroids may be needed for the relief of symptoms.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
