Hi,

In PCOD, there is failure of ovulation. This causes imbalance in hormonal cycle. So normal menstrual cycle does not take place and blood built up in uterus continues till its over ripe and then suddenly menses start which can be profuse or scanty / earlier or delayed. This is the cause of irregular periods in PCOD.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
