What Causes Irregular Periods Post Birth Control Withdrawal?
I am currently have been taking birth control for 9 months with no problem. Then one day when on the active pills got my period it lasted for three days then I decided to stop taking birth-control and my period got lighter then, a few days later got very heavy and has been getting worse...so I started my pill again hoping it would help but nothing. I dont know what to do and am very worried. I had my period now for 14 days!
Hello,Welcome to the HCM Brief ...it could be hormonal disbalance,or endometriosis. Detailed answer.. As contraceptive pills contains synthetic progesterone ,which can cause disbalance of progesterone and estrogen hormones,so can cause irregular periods.Other cause can be endometriosis which can also cause heavy and irregular bleeding. My opinion would be get blood estrogen and progesterone level at 5th day of cycle and get checked by gynaecologist ,you may also discuss about the need of laproscopy to diagnose endometriosis. Best of health.Regards,Dr.Maheshwari
