What Causes Intermittent Hiccups And Burps?

my daughter is 2 years old and has intermittent hiccups and burping fits for the past 5 days. She even hiccups in her sleep. She has no history of GERD and there is no obvious cause. She doesn't seem to be in pain, but I'm sure it bothers her. What could be the cause and what can I do for her?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

History of hiccup in this age could be due to hiatus hernia and it should be ruled out. Apart from this, it could be due to irritation of diaphragm may be physiological or may be due to diet.

It is self limiting phenomenon if it does not have nay underlying cause. Long lasting symptoms need proper investigation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Akhtarhusain
