I had a case of shingles to the RHS of face in April which has totally healed.
I spent some time in hospital, during this time I had a 3hr episode of dizziness and sensory confusion.
The major problem facing me now is sleep insomnia, could the virus damage the part of the brain that governs sleep, or has my body system been put out of sync due to being awake for many days due to pain. I thought the insomnia would have passed by now and getting concerned. I can stay awake for days and need to take anti depressants which only help a little.
You seem to be suffering from insomnia that could be independent or due to another mental disorder like depression or anxiety. It doesn't seem to be caused by the viral infection but could have been precipitated by same especially if you already have a family history of such diseases. You should try practicing sleep hygiene first failing which you can try medications. Sleep and get up on a specific time, avoid tea, coffee after evening, exercise in morning, avoid stimulating activities at night like TV, mobile, loud music, practice relaxation and engage in soothing activities just before sleep like reading, soft music or meditation, a warm bath before sleeping, of you don't get sleep start reading, use the bed only for sleep, avoid any substances like alcohol, Donot take naps in day Following these regularly will normalise your sleep. Hope you sleep well.
