What Causes Imbalance Of The Body In A 50 Year Old?

Hi, My anunt is 50. She is active and Not over weight but For months now she is having a really hard time walking, she can't seem to control her legs to get one foot infront of the other. She is extremely off balance. She walks hunched over and basically shuffles her feet to get around. I have seen her have to acctually take her left hand and pick up her right hand to move it on the computer mouse!(she had no control). She is also getting tingling and numbness in her legs, arms, fingers and lips. It is getting proggressivly worse. She has no insurance and the ER says its anxiety(which I do not belive). Please help, what could this be? Thank you.

Hello there,

Welcome to healthcaremagic.

I understand your concern for your aunt.I think she is having stroke warning signs.You should immediately take her to the nearest doctor and get her checked.She might be having very high blood pressure,which can damage arteries throughout the body. Weakened arteries in the brain put you at much higher risk for stroke.She should undergo a CT scan or MRI brain and an electrocardiogram according to me.

These are the warning signs of stroke;
1)Numbness or weakness in your face, arm, or leg, especially on one side
2)Confusion or trouble understanding other people
3)Trouble speaking
4)seeing with one or both eyes
5)Trouble walking or staying balanced or coordinated
6)Dizziness
7)Severe headache that comes on for no known reason.

Hope i could help you.
