What Causes High Platelet Count?

I found out I have a high platelet count. The doctor is doing several blood tests on me one of which is a blood smear that I have not gotten the results back on yet. I did get back that I am not anemic and i dont have inflammed tissue. It will be a week though until I can find out what the blood smear results are. With that being said and I can rule out anemia, a low iron count and no inflammation I would like to know if I should be quite concerned that I might have cancer? I just want to kind of prepare myself. Thank you for your time.

Hello,

You are having high platelet count. You have not mentioned anything about your past illness or disease. If raised platelets count is acute and without any medical condition, then there is nothing to worry. To normalize the count include pomegranate, cucumber, radish, zucchini, mushrooms, cherries, berries, oranges in your diet.

Quit smoking, avoid taking alcohol, drugs and addictions if any. Take omega 3 food or supplements, taking ginseng is also helpful. In case high platelet count is detected with health conditions like IBD, myeloproliferative disorders, inflammatory conditions, etc.; then get it treated at the earliest as it may be indicative of malignancy.

Get clinically evaluated and assessed. Get required blood and imaging tests be done so that the pathology causing the symptoms may be detected and treatment started at the earliest.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
