What Causes High Level Of Alt ?

I am 52 and have Hypothyroidism. My current blood test revealed an ALT level at 81. I am 6'3" and 255lbs. I have been walking 2 to 3 miles per day since blood test 2months ago, and lost 10 lbs. I dont drink, dont smoke, was tested for Hepatitis C that was negative. I eat alot of organic vegatables and friuts daily. I do take three tablespoons of Olive Oil per day. What could cause this elevation. Blood tests for ALT last July 2010 were normal.

Hi, dear.
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern. Alt is a liver enzyme. Its level increase in liver damage. It may be due to some infection, alcohol, drugs or toxin. You should go for complete liver function test. Also go for ultrasound abdomen. Then you should take treatment accordingly.
Hope I have answered your question, if you have doubt then I will be happy to answer. Thanks for using health care magic. Wish you a very good health.
