What Causes High Fasting Blood Sugar Levels While On Metformin?
Yes you can. I have had diabetes for 14 years. Type 2. I have done everything in those 30 day diabetic cure books and guess what. It doesn t work. I ve been at it for 2 years and have been very diligent about it. I weigh 138 lbs and am 5 7 and have never been fat and my fasting blood sugar is 200 or higher most mornings. Whats the problem. I m on metformin, glimepiride, altorvastatin, arcabose. None of it seems to work very well. I try to eat as much organic food as I can. I eat about 12-1400 calories a day in 6 small meals. Hardly any deserts or salty snacks. I get about 5-6 hours of exercise a day. What is my problem????
Hi, I had gone through your query and understood your concerns.
Sir/Mam, First let me appreciate for your positive approach and determination. In a long standing diabetes, after some time the blood sugar levels which were under control for a long time become higher. This is because the insulin production from the body still reduces. Then you need a rise in dosage of present drugs or addition of new drugs to present medication along with the good diet and exercise you are already following.
If I were your treating doctor, I advice addition of pioglitazone or sitagliptin to present medication. You can discuss the changes with your treating doctor.
Hope this guides you. Thank you.
