What Causes High Blood Pressure While On Metoprolol And Coumadin?

i have bp avg 145/105 pulse 89 these past days since first checked Thur. morning. I understand bp is a little high and I don t understand the bottom # to know what to do. I have afib, take metprolol and coumadin. I ve had a cold fighting sinuses with sudaphed and nyquill. dr said don t take sudaphed. guidance?

Hello. Metoprolol lowers the BP and also keeps the heart rate in check while coumadin is a blood thinner given to prevent clots forming as you have atrial fibrillation. Both these drugs donot increase the BP. However, sudafed which is pseudoephedrine does cause an increase in BP hence your doctor was right in asking you to stop it. Hope this helps.
