What Causes High PP Blood Sugar Levels While On Insulin?

Hello Doctor,

My father is a diabetic since last 19 years. He is 79 now. His FBS is 110, but PPBS is 230. He is on insulin. Morning 8 units and evening 6 units. Why is his PPBS so high even though his FBS is under control? He has no other health complications apart from diabetes

Diabetologist 's  Response
Dear Sir/Madam,
This is a very common scenario in diabetes. You can adjust insulin dose by increasing morning dose of insulin by 2 units or add alpha glucosidase inhibitors along with his breakfast. There is nothing to worry with these type of values , it happens because of glucose-insulin mismatch.. do not worry and keep in touch with a diabetologist.
