What Causes Hemorrhoids?

Hi I am a 19 year old female. I ve recently been having a lot of gas & when I went to do the number 2 today I noticed that whenever I push a little, as if I were using the bathroom, that a light red/dark pink thing would come out of my anus. I m kind of worried. It s relatively medium sized and kind of sharp at the tip. What could this be? And what should I take to make it go away?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The hemorrhoid is the soft tissue mass of anal canal wall protruding from inside during the strenuous bowel movements.

The routine cause is hard stool, constipation, irregular bowel habits, lack of fiber in the diet and others.

Proper systemic care is must after consulting surgeon for physical examination.

Presently can do following at home for better relief
- plenty of liquids to maintain hydration
- high fiber diet
- bulk laxative as ispaghula husk for smooth bowel evacuation
- sitz bath regularly 2 times a day
- diet control to avoid all spices, junk, non veg which may trigger constipation
- if sexually active and involved - must avoid anal sex.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
