What Causes Heavy Periods With Clots And Nipple Discharge?

Hmm, ok... im having a bit of a small issue with my body clock, persay... im not too sure if i am begining premenopuase, or having a miscarrage...I am a 37yr old caucasian female, i had a laprosopic tubal liagation when i was 23 years old one year after the birth of my ladt child. I had 3 pregnancies, two were successuful natural births, the first was a misscarrage of an advanced fetus, approximately 5 months.... it was excrushiatingly painfull... but what i am experiencing is a very heavy period, with quite a bit more clots than usual, and bigger in sieze but nothing horrendus like my first miscarrage. The only reason i ask, is becsuse i feel my milk let down every so often, but i havent breast feed in years...and yes, when squeezed a colossum syrum is expelled through my nipples. But the pain from the minstration is like a means cramping, that i have been experiencing to going on4 days, typical my first day is pain then im fine. And i have heavy spurts of bleeding unlike before, which was beyond heavy Constantly. Im kind of confussed, hate going to the doc. But i will if i must. I was just hoping you could help to ease my mind until then... sincerely, april

Hi,

It is important to note that heavy periods with clots and nipple discharge can be caused by several different factors, and it is difficult to determine the exact cause without a medical evaluation. Some potential causes may include:
* Hormonal imbalances: Changes in hormone levels, such as those that occur during perimenopause or due to a hormonal disorder, can cause heavy bleeding and nipple discharge.
* Fibroids or polyps: Non-cancerous growths in the uterus or cervix can cause heavy bleeding and clots.
* Endometriosis: A condition in which tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside of it and can cause heavy periods and pelvic pain.
* Cancer: While less common, nipple discharge can be a symptom of breast cancer, and heavy periods or bleeding between periods can be a symptom of uterine or cervical cancer.
It is important to see a healthcare provider for a thorough evaluation and diagnosis. Your healthcare provider may perform a physical exam, imaging tests, or blood tests to help determine the cause of your symptoms. They may also recommend a biopsy or other tests to rule out cancer.

In the meantime, you can try using over-the-counter pain relief medications, such as ibuprofen, and using a heating pad to help alleviate menstrual cramps. Additionally, keeping track of your symptoms and menstrual cycle using a period-tracking app can help provide your healthcare provider with useful information during your evaluation.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
